Ramachandran, Akshay

Akshay obtained his bachelor's in mechanical engineering from IIT Bhubaneswar and master's degree in energy science and technology (MEST) from ETH Zürich. His research interests are in the field of structural design, damage modeling, composite materials used for high-end applications, and shape adaptable structures. During his master’s, he focused on structural design and damage detection in wind turbine blades. He also gained industrial experience working at Skypull SA, an airborne wind energy startup. He concluded MEST program with his master’s thesis on “Structural Health Monitoring of airborne wind energy drones”, in collaboration with the Structural Mechanics and Monitoring lab, ETH Zurich, and Skypull. At CMAS Lab, Akshay would be working on durable thin-ply thermoplastic polymer composites for shape adaptable structures.
